Love is in the Air – so go outside – then come back inside and get some stuff done!
What a winter! For those of us on the West Coast, as much as we might like to complain about the cold and the rain, we know our East Coast friends aren’t going to listen — and that’s okay. I fully admit to being “California soft.”
With these short, chilly (and yes, sometimes wet) days, it can be hard to feel motivated. My hope is that this month’s newsletter gives you a gentle nudge to check a thing or two off your winter ‘to-do’ list.
First, give yourself permission to feel whatever this season brings. If crisp mornings inspire you to take a brisk walk or a bike ride, wonderful! And if you’re still in nesting mode, that’s okay too. Just don’t let cozy become stagnant. Use these longer evenings for small, satisfying wins. Choose something easy and enjoyable, ideally with a warm drink and good music. Organizing old prints, labeling photos (with a photo-safe pencil), or jotting down family stories are all simple ways to be productive without feeling overwhelmed.
Let the short month inspire short tasks. Here are a few suggestions:
• Set a timer and start a 10-minute discard/delete session
• Identify ONE digital folder or ONE photo envelope sort
• Choose a single year of images, physical or digital, and put it in an order that makes sense to you
• Create a digital “Favorites” album or a physical “Favorites” envelope. Select around 25 images that make you smile and note which digital photos you’d love printed or which prints you want digitized.
Small steps truly add up. Even labeling a handful of photos today can make a meaningful difference tomorrow.
Looking for more inspiration. Let’s talk. My calendar is open for you to find time for us to connect.
Start Here is also hosting two events this month, one in person at the Scotts Valley Library on February 21st and another one virtually on February 22nd. You can find more information or register by clicking here.
