September is Save Your Photos Month!
Did you know there is an entire month dedicated to organizing, protecting, and sharing your photos?
If you have been following this blog for a while, you may already know the answer. If you're new here - welcome! You are joining at the perfect time because September is Save Your Photos Month, and it all begins now!
What started in 2014 as a single day created by The Photo Managers has grown into a month-long, worldwide celebration of preserving our memories. As more people realized the importance of protecting their photos and family stories, the event continued to grow.
This year is especially meaningful for me because I have the incredible honor of hosting the first Save Your Photos Month event and serving as the Master of Ceremonies for the Memory Keepers Live Summit at the end of the month. It is a privilege to be entrusted with these roles by The Photo Managers, and I can't wait to share this experience with all of you.
Throughout September, The Photo Managers will release free weekly YouTube sessions to help you take the next step in preserving your memories:
Week 1: Protect Your Printed Photos
Week 2: Protect Your Digital Photos
Week 3: Take Control of Your Photo Collection
Week 4: Preserve Your Family Story
These free sessions are designed to teach you what to do with your photos. Then, at the end of the month, join us for the Memory Keepers Live Summit—a full-day, virtual event designed to help you actually do it. You will leave with practical strategies, expert guidance, and the motivation to finally tackle the photo projects you have been putting off. Whether you are your family's historian, the keeper of generations of photographs, or simply someone who wants to organize years of memories, this event is for you!
Local Event for Santa Cruz County
If you are local to Santa Cruz County, I would love to see you in person! On Saturday, September 12, I will be presenting a free workshop at the Scotts Valley Public Library ‘How to Digitize Photos Like a Pro’. This presentation will cover:
How to prepare your photos before scanning
Common digitizing mistakes and how to avoid them
The equipment and resources available through your local library
Tips for creating high-quality digital copies that will last for generations
Whether you are planning to digitize a shoebox of family photos or an entire lifetime of memories, you will leave with practical knowledge you can put to use immediately.
As I often say, tell your story now, so others don't have to later. Every photograph represents a moment that deserves to be protected, organized, and shared. Our generation has taken more photos than any generation before us, but unless we take the time to preserve them, we also risk becoming the first generation whose stories are lost in the digital clutter.
